PROCEDURE

The following are specific guidelines for creation and presentation of Security ID Badges:

Badge Size and Print Specifications
Specific badge presentation information is provided to the U Card Office. All Security ID Badges must be produced and issued by the U Card Office in accordance with the Security ID Badge Policy and Badge specifications supplied to the U Card Office by the Security ID Badge Program.
General ID Badge Specifications
The Security ID Badge type determines the name field that will be used to populate the name on the Badge.
Most Security ID Badges feature an employee’s legal name as it is currently stored in PeopleSoft.
Where required by law, health care professional Security ID Badges will feature the employee’s name and professional suffix as it appears on their health care license (i.e. Minnesota state law requires name and professional suffix).
Security ID Badges will, at a minimum, feature an employee’s department and role (e.g., Facilities Management – Landcare), name, photograph and expiration date. This new direction is critical for University of Minnesota Police Department identification and access verification purposes.
All exceptions to Security ID Badge Specifications must be formally requested, and approved by the Department of Central Security in collaboration with the U Card Office (Request for Exception to Security ID Badge Specifications Form).
